Vishay BLH Weighing Solutions

Vishay Precision Group produces sensors based on resistive foil technology, and sensor-based systems. We provide vertically integrated products and solutions for multiple growing markets in the areas of stress measurement, industrial weighing, and manufacturing process control. We operated as a part of Vishay Intertechnology until July 6, 2010, when they were spun off as an independent, publicly traded company.

Vishay purchased the BLH and Nobel businesses from Thermo Electron Corporation in 2002. BLH and Nobel were engaged in the production and sale of load-cell-based process weighing systems, weighing and batching instruments, web tension instruments, weighing scales, servo control systems, and components relating to load cells including strain gages, foil gages, and transducers.

Today, Vishay BLH is one of the brands within the Vishay Transducers division of Vishay Measurements Group. Former BLH products — with the exception of strain gages — are now branded Vishay BLH. Strain gage products formerly branded BLH, including SR-4 strain gages now fall under the Vishay Micro-Measurements brand as part of the Micro-Measurements division of Vishay Measurements Group.

Our growth strategy largely focuses on vertical product integration, using their foil resistance strain gages in their load cell products and incorporating their load cells and electronic measurement instrumentation (containing foil resistors) and software into their modules and measurement systems. Current sensing foil resistor products are also part of certain control systems that they manufacture. Many of their acquisitions in recent years have been directed towards furthering their vertical integration strategy, and they expect to continue to focus their acquisition program in this direction.
